Hotel Laxárbakki is a family run hotel located in Hvalfjordur, next to the salmon river Laxá.It is conveniently located on highway one, just 14 km from Akranes and 22 km from Borgarnes. From here there is a short distance to and from the main tourism areas in the Southwest, where Húsafell, Langjökull-Glacier, Þingvellir, Hvalfjordur and Snæfellsnes are located. The unique birdlife in the area makes Hotel Laxárbakki a convenient base for bird watching activities.

In addition to bird watching there are also great hiking trails close by, such as Glymur, Akrafjall, Hafnarfjall, Skarðsheiði as well as numerous other enjoyable and interesting areas to explore.

During the winter, when the conditions for the aurora lights to dance in the night sky are good, Hótel Laxárbakki is well situated in the country side to watch the northern lights in all their glory. It is even possible to see them from our hot tub.
