Geosea at Húsavík

If there is something that characterizes Húsavík, it is the presence of the sea. With its colourful and bustling harbour and tradition of whale watching, this small town gem in the north of Iceland is an indispensable destination for a trip to the Nordic region.
Connected to the Sea
GeoSea Sea baths are one of the main landmarks of Húsavík and give the town a unique depth and even more connection to the sea. Here you enjoy floating in geothermal waters, overlooking Skjálfandaflói Bay and the possibility of seeing a whale blowing just outside the rim of the waves. Sounds almost unreal.
Mineral-rich seawater
The atmosphere in GeoSea is unlike most other bathing spots in the country. There is no steam rising out of lava or green slopes – but rather open sea, wide horizon and deep still water that tastes a little salty due to the source, which is a mixture of clear rock water and seawater. The water is mineral-rich, but without chlorine or chemicals, which has the effect of making the skin silky smooth, the hair shines, and the body relaxes differently than in traditional pools.
You float lightly, as in the Dead Sea, and while you look out over the mountain range in the distance, you can only hear the sound of the waves and birds floating above.
A must stop at Húsavík
GeoSea The sea baths have certainly become part of the town atmosphere of Húsavík and elevate it even further, creating a unique connection between the ocean and a beautiful town.
