ReyCup: Iceland’s International Football Festival

Since its founding in 2002, ReyCup has grown into one of Europe’s most respected and
welcoming international football tournaments, bringing together young players, coaches,
and families from around the world in the heart of Reykjavík, Iceland.
Building friendships across borders
The tournament was founded by parents from a local football club with the aim of giving their children the opportunity to compete against peers from around the world, to gain exposure to different
cultures, and to build friendships across borders.
Today, ReyCup welcomes over 140 international teams from more than 10 countries, creating a unique meeting point where football, culture, and community come together.
A Tournament Built on Experience and Excellence
With more than 24 years of experience, ReyCup is known for its professional structure, fair
play, and high-quality competition. Each year, approximately 140 teams and 2,500
participants compete across age groups, with guaranteed matches, qualified referees, and
well-maintained playing facilities.
The final matches will be played at Laugardalsvöllur, Iceland’s national football stadium.
Matches are played in downtown Reykjavík, with venues located within walking distance of
accommodation. Games take place on outdoor artificial turf and natural grass fields,
ensuring a smooth and consistent playing experience regardless of weather conditions.
ReyCup follows FIFA regulations and, where applicable, the rules of the Icelandic Football
Association, providing a safe, fair, and internationally recognized tournament environment.

More Than Just Football
ReyCup is about much more than results on the pitch. The tournament is designed to offer a
complete experience — combining competitive matches with social events, cultural
activities, and unforgettable moments off the field.
Participants can enjoy sightseeing tours, swimming pool parties, BBQs, dances, and shared
experiences that build friendships across borders. For many teams, ReyCup is as much
about cultural exchange as it is about football.
Held in Reykjavík, the tournament is also close to some of Iceland’s most iconic natural
attractions, including geysers, volcanoes, glaciers, and the Blue Lagoon — making it a truly
unique destination tournament.
A Global Community
Over the years, ReyCup has welcomed teams from across Europe, North America, Africa,
and South America, including clubs from the UK, Sweden, USA, Denmark, Norway,
Canada, Germany, Chile, Mexico, Kenya, and many more. Elite academies and grassroots
teams alike come together, united by a shared love for the game.
The emphasis on fair play, respect, and positive attitudes is central to ReyCup’s identity,
ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all backgrounds.
Looking Ahead
As ReyCup continues to grow and evolve, its core values remain unchanged: high-quality
football, strong organisation, and a sense of community that extends far beyond the final
whistle.
Whether you’re a player stepping onto the pitch, a coach guiding your team, or a supporter
cheering from the sidelines, ReyCup offers an experience that stays with you long after the
tournament ends, a celebration of football set against the extraordinary backdrop of
Iceland.
